The Election Commission has started updating the new voter list in the country’s home country. The information collection process will begin on Tuesday till 9th August.
Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda and 4 commissioners inaugurated the voter updating program at 11 am at Tarek Memorial Auditorium in Town Hall of Mymensingh.
Earlier, Election Commissioner Mohammad Abdullah said, the voters’ information is being collected at home from Tuesday. It will work to collect information till 9th August. Update of voter list of 2017 will add up to 35 lakh new voters.
Mohammad Abdullah said that in January 2014, those who were 18 and those who could not be voters for different reasons will be voters. This step will collect information about citizens born on January 1, 2000 or earlier.
Although the new voter list is updated, the Election Commission is monitoring special attention in 30 upazilas of 4 districts of Rohingya. These upazilas are – Cox’s Bazar Sadar, Chakoria, Teknaf, Ramu, Pekua, Ukhia, Maheshkhali and Kutubdia, Bandarban Sadar, Ruma, Thanchi, Boangchari, Alikadam, Lama and Naikhongchhari, Rangamati Sadar, Longadu, Rajasthali, Bilaichari, Kaptai, Baghaichari, Jurachari, Barkal and Boalkhali, Patiya, Anwara, Chandanaish, Satkania, Lohagara and Banshkhali in Chittagong.
Besides, the commission has identified 65 upazilas of 19 districts as a remote area.
